Description

Botrytis cinerea is a very fast growing fungus, and should take over most of the plate unless there is competition with other fungi. It should produce abundant grey mycelium, especially where it meets resistance (at the edge of the plate, or growing over other fungi and/or seeds). That mycelium should be composed of tape-like dark hyphae (darker with age) which will produce many bunches of branching conidiophores (dendritic growth). Those conidiophores are ellipsoidal or obovoid, single celled, and are produced on the ends of the branches. An excellent example is to think of bunches of grapes.
